Therapeutic activities

Child Neuropsychiatric, psychological and cognitive assessments
These assessments are aimed at defining a diagnosis. They include the initial medical evaluation, follow-up visits, psychological and cognitive testing, observation of play and behaviour, and functional assessment.

Speech therapy
Speech therapy addresses difficulties in language, communication, and learning. Speech therapists use targeted exercises and play-based activities, together with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), sign language (LIS), and the PROMPT method.

Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy aims to improve neuromotor functioning in children and adolescents with congenital or acquired conditions, supporting compromised functions and strengthening residual abilities.

Psychomotor therapy
Improves basic motor functions as well as relational, emotional, and motivational aspects that support the child’s overall development. Movement is connected to intention, purpose, and social rules, and becomes a tool for self-awareness, learning about others, and building relationships.

Orthoptic rehabilitation
The orthoptist assesses possible visual skill deficits in order to prevent and treat visual disorders, with particular attention to the preschool age and the early stages of reading and writing. Orthoptic rehabilitation is integrated with psychomotor and speech therapy activities.

Cognitive and attention enhancement
Focuses on attention, perception, memory, gnosis, praxis, planning, logic, and thinking processes, also through the use of digital tools and other technologies.

Psychological therapy
It is provided through individual or group support interventions for children and adolescents, as well as for their families.

Occupational therapy
It uses doing as its main approach and aims to develop and improve the child’s ability to act through play, expressive activities, and daily life experiences, fostering and valuing their interests.

Hydrokinesiotherapy
Water is a valuable therapeutic tool: the absence of gravity allows children to perform movements that may be difficult or impossible in other settings. Water-based activities encourage spontaneous movement and relaxation, supporting sensorimotor organisation while the body is stimulated, supported, and protected.
The Activities of the Placido Puliatti Foundation

Music therapy and art therapy
Music and art help explore emotions and ease behavioural difficulties, while fostering expression and communication skills.

Expressive–relational dance movement therapy®
Through rhythm, movement, and music, dance promotes wellbeing and vitality, playfully supporting harmonious psychophysical integration and enhancing expression, relationships, and sharing.
All habilitative and rehabilitative activities are complemented by specific support for parents (counselling, parent training) and for those who care for the child on a daily basis (teachers and after-school support staff).
This includes:
-
psychological support meetings and psychoeducational guidance;
-
information on therapeutic activities, equipment, and assistive devices;
-
participation in school GLO meetings.
